BJ Hellyer joined the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in 1996 through the college internship program. He began his career as a full-time Financial Representative in Des Moines following his graduation from Drake University, choosing the company "because I knew I could take pride in everything I sold."

From 2004-2007, BJ served as Managing Director, bringing his commitment and enthusiasm to The Erhard Financial Group’s Ames District Network Office, especially in his work training new Financial Representatives. "The opportunity my career offers to have a positive impact and to be rewarded financially is incredible," he says.

In January 2008, BJ was appointed Chief Development Officer for The Bohannon Group in Eagan Minnesota. In this role, BJ enjoys the opportunity to focus uniquely on coaching and mentoring new Financial Representatives and giving them the tools and guidance necessary to succeed. Using his 12 years of experience as a successful Financial Representative and his skills as a leader, BJ is excited to motivate his mentees to exceed their potential.

BJ Hellyer enjoys meeting new people and building strong relationships. He especially enjoys the flexibility his career offers, because it enables him to spend time with the people he cares about most.

As a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), BJ Hellyer promotes the essential role of insurance.

The mission of the NAIFA is to advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment, enhance business and professional skills, and promote the ethical conduct of our members.

NAIFA is a national nonprofit organization representing the interests of more than 70,000 insurance and financial advisors nationwide, through its federation of over 900 state and local associations. Founded in 1890, NAIFA is the nation's largest financial services membership association.
